Warning: spoilers ahead for episode three of Euphoria on Sky Atlantic and Now

Fans have been wrapped up in the colourful gang of East Highland’s debauchery, and a new season of Euphoria always guarantees new drama, so cue in the third chapter.

So much has already gone down, Fezco (Angus Cloud) almost beat Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) to death, Cassie Howard (Sydney Sweeney) and Nate are hooking up, and Rue Bennett (Zendaya) and Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer) are back together.

But of course, the drama continues… so here’s a rundown of everything that happened in Ruminations: Big and Little Bullys.

Insight into Cal Jacob’s sexuality

Fans will get to see why Cal is the way he is (Picture: HBO)

Cal Jacobs (Eric Dane) plays the stereotypical proud suburban family man on the show, however, viewers were disturbed to learn all about his secret life, which involves him hooking up with young gay men and trans-woman.

Each episode of Euphoria begins with a lengthy monologue by Rue to provide viewers an insight into the characters, and tonight’s opener was dedicated to Cal.

The scene started with a montage of Cal and his high school pal flirting with girls, and it shows Cal and Marsha’s (Nate Jacobs’ mother) first interaction.

During his teens, Cal was a star wrestling player on the school team alongside his best friend. Despite his image as a typical heterosexual teen, the shots started to zoom in on how Cal looked at his buddy, in that way – but of course, scared to ever act upon it.

However after one night of drinks, the pair had a night of fun, and Cal woke up feeling happy but was shocked to learn that Marsha was pregnant – which further emphasised his reality.

Fast forward to present day, and Cal is trying to lead a moral life, but as the saying goes, ‘the past always catches up with you’.

Elliot’s in the hot seat

Jules doesn’t trust Elliot… if that wasn’t clear before (Picture: HBO)

Jules (Hunter Schafer) remains sceptical of Rue’s new friend Elliot, despite being unaware that he is the only person who knows Rue is using again.

This resulted in a joint interrogation with Rue acting as the good cop and Jules as the bad while Elliot had a bedroom lamp shined in his face.

Jules’ suspicions took over due to her current relationship with Rue, which intensified during the episode, but she can’t help worrying about Rue’s switch in behaviour.

Well, fans will have to wait and see how she reacts to Elliot and Rue taking drugs together, fans most definitely appreciated a brief moment of Rue smiling again.

It was long overdue.

Cassie Howard gets obsessive over Nate Jacobs

Poor Cassie (Picture: HBO)

Fans have already witnessed a new secret couple on the scene which involved Nate and Cassie.

With Nate being Nate, he was back to his playboy antics and mind games, which led a distressed Cassie to be questioning her own self-worth.

Halfway through the episode, there was a montage played of Cassie waking up in the early hours of the morning to do a vigorous skincare routine and strut her stuff down the school halls in the hopes of Nate giving her some attention.

But each time, Nate would simply brush past her without giving her a second look.

Her friends Maddy Perez (Alexa Demie) and Kat Hernandez (Barbie Ferreira) questioned what was up with her, but Lexi (Maude Apatow) poured herself into mounting a school play that is set to feature some pretty big surprises.

Rue Bennett’s talking business

Fans will finally know what was in the suitcase (Picture: HBO)

‘In all fairness, I did say I had no intention of staying clean,’ Rue said during her usual episode presentation to viewers.

However, she pushed it to a new level this time round, and is desperate to make some money out of it.

Rue raised a pretty persuasive pitch to Fezco, but he quickly shut her down much to her annoyance.

But that wasn’t going to stop rebellious Rue. She later puts on her best attire and heads to a dealer’s house (a dealer Fezco introduced her to in episode one) and offers her services.

It clearly worked in her favor as Rue was later seen lugging a suspicious-looking suitcase with her, which led to a war of words between her and her mentor Ali (Colman Domingo). After Ali walks away from Rue after she bluntly threw his past ordeal in his face, Ali storms off and leaves Rue alone with her thoughts.

Episode four of Euphoria airs January 30 on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
