Andrew Marr announced in November that he will be leaving the BBC after 21 years.
The journalist and broadcaster, 62, started working for the BBC as political editor in 2000 and has hosted the talk show The Andrew Marr Show since 2005.
But now he has made the decision to move on to the Global news network to host programmes both on LBC and Classic FM.
The Andrew Marr Show will be retitled – at least temporarily – as Sunday Morning in the New Year, with journalist and broadcaster Sophie Raworth set to take over until a permanent replacement is appointed.
Here is everything you need to know about the new face of the BBC’s Sunday mornings…
Who is Sophie Raworth?
Sophie Raworth, 53, is an English journalist, broadcaster and presented from Surrey.
She has been with the BBC in some capacity for nearly 20 years, first joining in 1992 as a news reporter for Greater Manchester Radio before becoming BBC Regions correspondent in Brussels in 1994.
In 1995, she became a presenter on BBC’s Look North programme in Leeds, before joining BBC’s Breakfast News in 2000, presenting alongside Justin Webb and John Nicolson.
She has since gone on to become a key part of the BBC News team, regularly presenting the BBC News at Six and the BBC News at 10.
In 2015, she replaced Anne Robinson as host of Watchdog and also began hosting Crimewatch in 2016, taking over from Kirsty Young.
She is due to take over The Andrew Marr Show – retitled as Sunday Morning – on January 9 while the BBC searches for a permanent replacement.
Outside of her work on the BBC, Sophie is a keen runner, having completed the London Marathon four times, as well competing in all six World Marathon Majors.
Is Sophie Raworth married?
Sophie is married to real estate company director Richard Winter – the couple tied the knot in 2003.
He proposed to her in Amalfi, Italy on her 35th birthday.
She told The Telegraph in 2014 that her perfect weekend would be going ‘to see a film’ with Richard followed by a meal together at their favourite bistro, Aglio E Olio on London’s Fulham Road.
Do they have any children?
Sophie and Richard have three children – two daughters called Ella and Georgia, and a son named Oliver.
Sophie often shares photos of her family and dogs out on runs on her Instagram – you can find her under the handle @sophieraworth.
She told The Telegraph:’”I love running with my children although I can’t say they love running with me.
‘My son likes a run but he beats me, which is annoying.
“The other two are older and they are not sure they want to be seen running with their mum.
“My eldest daughter has announced she wants to run a half-marathon with friends.
‘I was like ‘Really? So that’s nice that this permeates and encourages them’.
