Lionsgate Plus, a streaming service, has sparked fear on social media after revealing that it would discontinue its UK service in only a few days.
The platform, which has only been fully operational in the UK for two years, is home to several popular series, leaving fans concerned about where they will be able to watch their favourite episodes in the future.
It has been confirmed that it would finish on February 29.
Lionsgate Plus now offers a variety of series, including The Spanish Princess, Black Sails, The Act, and Godfather of Harlem, as well as films such as La La Land, American Psycho, and Do the Right Thing.
Outlander, whose UK home is Lionsgate Plus, is the main source of anxiety for many of those concerned.
When it closes down, all seven seasons will disappear from streaming, leaving its greatest admirers in a whirl.
‘Oh well, that’s helpful! So what happens now? I get that steaming services are struggling, but once again, the UK fans are getting a raw deal. We support the show just as much as other countries!’ posted X user Lorna.

Another X user, Emerysmummy301, commented: ‘So sorry to hear [Lionsgate Plus is closing down], can I ask what will happen to shows like Outlander?’
Viewer Carole then asked: ‘Do you know what will happen when Lionsgate exits the UK. Should I stop my subscription? Will the programmes be absorbed or go?’
In response, Lionsgate Plus’s X account stated that it did not know where its series would go, but promised to keep fans updated as more information became available.
Fans waiting for more Outlander episodes may still get them on Amazon Prime Video, but they must purchase individual episodes and seasons rather than having them all available in one spot.
However, while episodes of the historical drama series set in 1700s Scotland will remain accessible on Amazon, Lionsgate Plus has stressed that they will only be available ‘for a short longer’.
Jane Sour, an X user, said: ‘An exact date of when Lionsgate is leaving Amazon Prime would be helpful. “A bit longer” tells us nothing. I’d rather not have payment taken for a non-existent platform when it goes.’
The closing of Lionsgate Plus was announced in November 2023 as part of a bigger revelation of Starz‘s future plans. Lionsgate purchased Starz in 2016, however Starz is now intending to break from its owner as a much larger, more powerful corporation.
According to reports in Cordbusters: ‘Lionsgate Plus struggled to gain the same traction as larger platforms, such as Netflix and Amazon’s Prime Video, which dominate the streaming space [in the UK].’
According to reports, the eighth season of Outlander will be the final.
Watch Outlander on Lionsgate Plus (until February 29). The series is also available on DVD and Blu-ray.
