Apple TV Plus has revealed the first look at The Big Bang Theory star Kunal Nayyar in its new upcoming thriller Suspicion.
The highly anticipated drama, which also stars Academy Award-nominated actress Uma Thurman, is set to make its worldwide debut on February 4, 2022.
Kunal appears to be a far cry from his Big Bang Theory character Raj Koothrappali in the preview pictures as he is seen with an air of concern as he speaks on the phone.
His transformation should come as no surprise though as he previously explained to Metro.co.uk he was keen to distance himself from Raj, and last year did just that in his first major TV role away from the sitcom as a killer in Netflix’s anthology seires, Criminal.
Suspicion is based on the award-winning Israeli series False Flag and its eight episodes kick off when a businesswoman’s son is kidnapped.
‘When the son of a prominent American businesswoman (Thurman) is kidnapped from a New York hotel, the eye of suspicion quickly falls on four seemingly ordinary British citizens who were at the hotel on the night in question,’ the synopsis teases.
‘As they find themselves in a trans-Atlantic cat and mouse race to evade the combined forces of the National Crime Agency and the FBI to prove their innocence, it becomes apparent that not everyone can be trusted.
‘Who is really behind the mysterious abduction, and who is only guilty of being in the wrong place at the wrong time?’
Although details surrounding Kunal’s character have been kept under wraps for now, although it has been confirmed his name is Aadesh Chopra.
In addition to Kunal, the ensemble cast also includes The American actor Noah Emmerich, Back Mirror’s Georgina Campbell, Scorpion’s Elyes Gabel and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’s Elizabeth Henstridge.
White Lines star Tom Rhys-Harries, Dancing On The Edge’s Angel Coulby and It’s A Sin’s Lydia West also feature, with Bafta award nominee Rob Williams serving as showrunner and executive producer.
Suspicion will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes, followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday.
Suspicion launches on Friday, February 4, 2022 on Apple TV Plus.
