Footballers’ Wives star Zoe Lucker speaks out on show reboot possibility

Footballers’ Wives star Zoe Lucker is ‘not entirely sure’ a show comeback would work.

The actress, 47, who played Tanya on the ITV drama believes the legacy of the show could be ruined as it was such a hit when it aired from 2002 to 2006.

She told Digital Spy: ‘What concerns me is people loved the series as it was. If you make a new one and it’s not as good, then it almost takes away from people’s memories and their happy experiences of watching the first one.

‘So I’m not entirely sure [about a reboot].’

She added: ‘I know for a fact I would never do those sex scenes at this age, mainly because of my daughter and also because I’m a prude. I just couldn’t.’

The screen star explained that she used to ‘zone out’ and forget she was filming a television show to get the job done while admitting it was clever editing that made the scenes appear more explicit than they really were.

Zoe’s fellow Footballers’ Wives star Gary Lucy appeared on This Morning earlier this month to talk about the show now being available for streaming on Britbox.

The actor, who played Kyle Pascoe, revealed the show was his dream job at the time as he’d always wanted to be a soccer star.

He explained: ‘I wanted to be a footballer, so it was nice to have that life for a bit, to drive the Ferraris and such.

‘Going on personal appearances, the response was ridiculous. It was the closest you could get to being a pop star.

‘I filmed Hollyoaks at the same time too. I was very blessed, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.’
