After the F1 drama last year, fans have been waiting for Netflix to announce the newest season of Formula 1: Drive to Survive, unleashing the battle between Max Verstappen and Sir Lewis Hamilton.

And it seems fans don’t have long to wait, as the drama continues into 2022 with an announcement by Netflix today.

The highly-anticipated show follows last year’s season which was the most-watched show on Netflix upon its release in March 2021.

Shedding light on the internal politics of F1 racing and sharing behind-the-scenes footage, fans have been awaiting the new season and all the drama it will involve, as it follows the shocking events of last year’s Formula 1 championship in Abu Dhabi.

The controversy surrounding race director Michael Masi and his decisions at the end of the Grand Prix which led to Verstappen beating Hamilton will unravel, as viewers will be treated to inside peak into what influenced the shocking outcome of the championship.

When does Formula 1: Drive to Survive season 4 come out?

Formula 1: Drive to Survive will return on 11 March 2022 for Season 4, as announced by Netflix.

The popular F1 show will return to Netflix with 10 episodes dropping just nine days before the 2022 season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

Who is in the cast of Formula 1: Drive to Survive season 4?

Whilst the hit show will revolve around the battle of Max Verstappen versus Sir Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen himself won’t be appearing in the upcoming season.

The Belgian-Dutch driver made the decision to step back from the show after criticising the way the show portrays drivers.

Speaking to Associated Press, he said: ‘I understand that it needs to be done to boost the popularity in America.

‘But from my side as a driver, I don’t like being part of it.

‘They faked a few rivalries which they don’t really exist.

‘So I decided to not be a part of it and did not give any more interviews after that because then there is nothing you can show.

‘I am not really a dramatic show kind of person, I just want facts and real things to happen.’

Although Verstappen is stepping away from the show, fans are still hoping Hamilton will make an appearance and shed some light on one of the most controversial moments in racing history, as Verstappen overtook him on the last lap and ruled victorious in Abu Dhabi last year.

Is there a trailer for Drive to Survive season 4?

While there is no trailer yet, the Netflix Twitter account has added more excitement, commenting on the announcement: ‘Wonder if anything interesting will happen.’

Formula 1: Drive to Survive season 4 will be available to stream from March 11.
