Fox presenter who slammed network live on-air unsurprisingly fired

In news that will likely shock no one, Fox presenter Ivory Hecker has been fired after accusing the network of ‘muzzling’ her as she gave a live segment on the heatwaves in Texas this week.

Hecker, who reported for Fox 26 in Houston, was preparing to give a weather report on Monday when she decided to go off-script, with a representative for the network branding the move ‘publicity seeking’.

As the studio threw it to her live in the field, the reporter said: ‘Before we get to that story, I want to let you, the viewers, know that Fox Corp. has been muzzling me to keep certain information from you, the viewers.

‘And from what I’m gathering, I am not the only reporter being subjected to this.’

She went on: ‘I am going to be releasing some recordings about what goes on behind the scenes at Fox, because it applies to you, the viewers.

‘I found a non-profit journalism group called Project Veritas that is going to help put that out tomorrow, so tune in then.’

It’s now been confirmed the reporter has been fired from her job, with a Fox 26 spokesperson telling ‘Fox 26 adheres to the highest editorial standards of accuracy and impartiality.

‘This incident involves nothing more than a disgruntled former employee seeking publicity by promoting a false narrative produced through selective editing and misrepresentation.’

Hecker later claimed she was terminated via text message, as the clip soon went viral around the world.

Project Veritas – described as a far-right activist group which shares undercover ‘sting’ operations on media outlets and liberal political organisations – shared a 10-minute interview it conducted with Hecker, as promised, however many have felt the drama surrounding her controversial on-air moment was bigger than the so-called ‘sting’.

Hecker sat down with founder James O’Keefe and alleged that Fox 26 management steered her away from certain stories and instead toward what was described as ‘a specific agenda handed down from corporate headquarters’.

In what she’d described as evidence of ‘corruption and censorship’, Hecker alleged Fox 26 ‘banned her from covering Covid-19 medical treatments’ in an attempt to censor her. That followed her report on the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine, which was promoted by former president Donald, however the World Health Organisation has stated it has ‘little or no effect on preventing illness, hospitalisation or death from Covid-19’.

The journalist said she received push-back from the network following a post on social media where she claimed Dr. Stella Immanuel, who touted the drug’s benefits on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court in a now-viral, and now-banned, video, had been censored, while she was seen in the clip being told by bosses she shouldn’t have asked about the drug during an interview with Dr. Joseph Varon – who touted its success in the report with Hecker.

In footage recorded behind-the-scenes, assistant news director Lee Meier was also seen discussing why they were not covering Bitcoin or cryptocurrency on the network.

Hecker went on to insist she has no interest in working for another corporation, telling The Daily Beast: ‘I would turn down Fox News. They wanted to bring me up to the network. I met a lot of executives there and I don’t want to talk to them anymore. It came from one of the top executives there that what I needed to succeed was to get in line with the narrative.’

A Fox News spokesperson confirmed to the publication the network had a single meeting with Hecker ‘but claimed it was only as a courtesy and the reporter was never offered a job with the network’.
