From Mike Hunt to Mike Oxlong: GB News terrorised by hysterical callers using fake NSFW names

While GB News appears to be plagued by amateur levels of errors hourly, callers phoning into the show are subtly taking the mick out of the presenting team without them even knowing.

Actually, it’s not even that subtle.

While the GB News production team has been frantically dealing with noise complaints with programmes sounding like they’ve been recorded in the gent’s toilets and filmed with a Go Pro, they’ve overlooked the names of some of the viewers who have been phoning in to comment on the daily news.

Naturally, though, there were plenty of people watching at home who were cracking up at the likes of Mike Hunt and Mike Oxlong trolling presenters Simon McCoy and Michelle Dewberry.

‘When I was a trainee producer at Sky News, almost the first thing I was taught was never to put anyone called Mike Hunt on air …’ wrote one audience member, stressing the golden rule of working behind-the-scenes in television.

When Mike Hunt got in touch with former Apprentice star Michelle, another viewer posted: ‘Ok I know I said I wouldn’t tweet about it but I can’t stop laughing.’

But Mike Hunt and Mike Oxlong are the least of GB News’ worries.

Since launching on Sunday night with an opening monologue from Andrew Neil promising to expose ‘cancel culture’ while also lining up a slew of presenters trying to cancel movements like ‘take the knee’ to support Black Lives Matter, GB News has been struck down by disaster after disaster.

Many viewers complained they couldn’t hear Neil’s speech, others complained that they could.

Many people have spotted glaring typos, Dan Wottoon was mocked when he was filmed asking production if he was going to get an auto-cue, unaware he was on air.

And several brands have pulled their adverts with GB News, desperate to distance themselves from the channel which has already seen Lady Colin Campbell defend Jeffrey Esptein.

GB News is available to watch on Sky, Virgin, Freeview and online.
