Gail Porter claims she was rejected by Celebrity First Dates (Picture:REX)
Gail Porter has revealed she was turned down by Celebrity First Dates despite being ready to find a partner.
The 50-year-old former presenter is keen to find love again but claims she wasn’t picked to feature on the celebrity version of the Channel 4 dating show, which has previously welcomed guests such as Duncan James, Anthea Turner and Bernie Clifton.
‘I love First Dates,’ Gail said. ‘Me and my daughter are addicted. But they didn’t choose me.
‘I don’t think I was right. When they ask a bloke about their ideal woman, they probably don’t say bald or short.’
Gail continued to The Sun: ‘I’m cracking on a bit. I’m not the most beautiful person you’ve ever seen. But then I always think I’m not good enough.
‘I could not think of anything nicer than having a hug every single night.’

Gail was married to Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave, whom she shares her daughter Honey with, between 2001 and 2006.
She also previously dated Prodigy frontman Keith Flint, who died in 2019, from 1999 to 2000.
In 2005, Gail developed alopecia, losing her hair. She decided not to wear a hat or wig in order to raise awareness of the condition.
Last month, Gail opened up about her previous struggles with homelessness and said she was penniless and left ‘sleeping on benches’ after her TV career dried up.
Speaking on the Sacrifice and Success podcast, Gail said: ‘My personality took a bit of a knock. Jobs just stopped. Because you don’t look the same, “would you wear a wig, would you mind wearing a wig?” No, I don’t want to wear a wig. This is how it is.

People go through a lot of worse things. My mum lost her hair to cancer, from chemotherapy. I just lost my hair. I’m very lucky.’
The presenter said that while going through her divorce from Dan, she ended up homeless.
‘I’ve got no money, I’ve got no work, I’m sleeping on people’s couches,’ she recalled. ‘It was like the Young Ones. I didn’t think I was going to be like this at my age.
‘This is why you don’t take everything for granted. You must always remember how lucky you are and be extremely kind. So there were a few times I didn’t have enough money on my phone to call anybody.’
Celebrity First Dates is available for catch-up on All 4.
