Fans of the Simpsons were disappointed to discover a very uncommon inaccuracy in a question regarding their favourite programme while watching the most recent episode of Jeopardy!
The animation has been on our screens for almost 30 years, with hundreds of episodes following Homer Simpson’s escapades with wife Marge and their three children, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie.
The series has become a television standard, with viewers noticing every minute prediction, narrative flaw, and Easter egg.
However, many viewers were astonished to discover an error regarding the cartoon series in Wednesday’s episode of the quiz show, in a question concerning Sideshow Bob.
Music executive Troy Meyer took on the category ‘Real Names of Unreal People’ and was presented with the query, ‘Robert Underdunk Terwilliger is the real name of this vengeful ‘The Simpsons’ character.’
Although Troy correctly answered the question and earned $600, viewers noticed a problem with the question.
Taking to Twitter, Kevin Sanders shared a screenshot from the question and tagged Simpsons writer Bill Oakley in his post, penning: ‘Onderdonk erasure. They’ll live to regret this.’
Quoting the tweet, Bill confirmed: ‘Yes @Jeopardy you made a rare mistake. It’s “Onderdonk”. And @Joshstrangehill and I are certain cause we wrote that script. Cc: @KenJennings.’
While neither the official Jeopardy! account nor Ken Jennings have officially acknowledged the gaffe, supporters admitted to making a similar spelling error.
Bob Germanovich replied: ‘Wow, a Simpsons thing that both Jeopardy and I have continuously gotten wrong in exactly the same way.’

Chris Morgan joked: ‘Next thing you know they’ll be calling Bart’s teacher “Crandall.”’
Others revealed that there was a misspelling in the subtitles on the actual show, sharing screenshots where Sideshow Bob was named ‘Robert Underdunk Terwilliger’.
‘I think closed captioning spells it with a U though,’ Patrick Lindsey shared.
As Andrew Jordan added: ‘Interesting, because it’s spelled “Underdunk” in the subtitles. Maybe it’s because the line is spoken by Quimby?’
Will Sideshow Bob ever get justice?
Kelsey Grammer, who portrays the legendary character, is one of several celebrities who have previously featured on the Celebrity Jeopardy! spin-off, including Martha Stewart, Jodie Foster, Ashton Kutcher, and Ray Romano.
But one prominent face is unhappy because, despite applying every year, she has never been invited up to compete in the main competition.
Emma Stone couldn’t help but mention her fondness for Jeopardy! During an appearance on Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast, she stated that she wanted to ‘earn her stripes’.
‘That’s my favorite show,’ she told the host. ‘That’s my dream, I apply every June.
‘I don’t want to go on Celebrity Jeopardy! I really want to earn my stripes.
‘I would like to go on real Jeopardy! but you have to take the test and you can only take it once a year with your email address.
‘So every June, I take the quiz and they don’t tell you how you did. They just say, “We’ll let you know in the next nine-12 months if you got on the show.” Guess what, I haven’t got on the show.
‘I watch it every single night and I mark down how many answers I get right. I swear, I could go on Jeopardy!’
