Gavin and Stacey is going to be back for another festive special this Christmas – kind of.

Leading stars Mathew Horne and Joanna Page will be reuniting on Christmas Day to host a radio show on BBC Radio Wales.

What’s more, they’ve promised some ‘special friends’ will be joining them… how crackin’ is that?!

The episode will air from midday until 2pm, and will then become available on BBC Sounds for anyone who might have missed it. Tidy.

Speaking about the announcement, Joanna – who regularly hosts Sunday morning shows for the station – said: ‘I absolutely love Christmas and I’ve been having a fantastic time doing my show on BBC Radio Wales, so when it came up that we could do a Christmas day show I knew that if there was anybody I’d want to share that with, it’s Mat.

‘I love working with him, he’s so much fun.’

‘I jumped at the chance to do this show with Jo,’ Mathew added. ‘I love working with Jo, I love Wales and I love doing radio.’

‘Christmas day is a special day and, particularly this year, it’s been very challenging for a lot of people, so it’s nice to feel like we might be bringing a little bit of joy.’

Among the guests will be fan favourites including Melanie Walters (who played Stacey’s mum Gwen), Larry Lamb and Alison Steadman (Gavin’s parents Mick and Pam), Steffan Rhodri (Dave Coaches), Robert Wilfort (Stacey’s brother Jason) and Laura Aikman, who joined the series last year as Sonia, Smithy’s new girlfriend.

James Corden will also be delivering a special message on behalf of his team.

‘We’re excited to be reuniting Joanna and Mathew this Christmas,’ Colin Paterson, editor of BBC Radio Wales, said.

‘Having Wales’ best loved couple, out of character, is a real treat. We hope their sense of fun will lift everyone’s spirits.’

Gavin and Stacey is available on Britbox and BBC iPlayer.
