The Great British Bake Off star Dave Friday has become a father for the first time with his girlfriend, Stacey.

The 30-year-old – who is a contestant on the current series – introduced his son, baby Ronnie, to the world with a series of cute Instagram posts on Thursday.

The Hampshire-based armoured guard and his long-term partner looked ecstatic as they cradled their newborn.

Dave wrote: ‘The wait is finally over! We’re thrilled to welcome little Ronnie to the world. So excited to start the next chapter of our lives.

New Bake Off host Matt Lucas was one of the hordes of fans showing their appreciation for Dave’s post, commenting: ‘Waaaaaaaaah! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!’

And it looks like baby Ronnie has already got his dad’s knack for baking as he posed with a whisk (!) in one of the photos, while rocking an animal-print babygro.

Dave also shared a sweet snap of Ronnie swathed in blankets, watching the latest episode of GBBO, which he captioned: ‘Just catching up on Bake Off.’

Dave and Stacey’s dog Yooki looks to be a huge fan of the new addition to the Friday household too, as he snuggled up to Ronnie and watched protectively over the newborn in a clip so pure that it’s making our eyes leak.

The budding baker announced that Stacey was pregnant with a sweet black and white snap of him kissing her baby bump in September.

He simply captioned the post, ‘My world,’ alongside a slew of heart emojis.

Dave is currently competing to take the Bake Off crown in this year’s series, which was pre-recorded in accordance with coronavirus guidelines and recently broke records by becoming Channel 4’s most-watched show since 1985.

Ahead of his appearance on the show, he said: ‘My strengths are the ability to learn from mistakes, take criticism and use it to improve. I am incredibly determined and see the positive in every situation.

‘Weaknesses would be feeling overwhelmed when mess builds up and struggling with some baking jargon. And French words!’
