Gemma Collins had The Weakest Link host Romesh Ranganathan and flabbergasted after she passed on a very simple question.
In Thursday’s upcoming episode of the hit quiz show, the reality star, 40, appeared a little confused when asked how many beds were in a twin hotel room.
However, Gemma quickly justified the blunder and said: ‘I only stay in suites or penthouses so when I got asked that question… twin beds, double… I really didn’t know the answer.’
Romesh later challenged her argument and asked: ‘Was there any part of you that thought twin had something to do with it? If anything the question was too cheap for you wasn’t it.’
‘Basically yeah. Sorry guys,’ she replied.
Kym Marsh, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Christopher Biggins, and Bonnie Langford, who were Gemma’s co-stars on the revamped game show, voted her off as the weakest link after giving the wrong answer.
After a decade away from the small screen, it was confirmed in June that Romesh would be replacing the formidable Anne Robinson, who joined the Countdown family in the same month.
In a statement, he said: ‘It’s an honour to be asked to bring what is basically a TV institution back to our screens.
‘Anne was an amazing host and to step into her shoes is an anxiety inducing privilege.
‘I’m hoping we’ve found a way to make both the fans of the show happy as well as bringing a new audience to it. If not, accept this as my apology.’
The comedian previously confirmed that he would not be copying Anne’s distinct style, telling Metro.co.uk and other press: ‘I mean, Anne was amazing at it and she was a big reason why that show was so popular [because of] the way that she did it.
‘The fact of the matter is, that the format is bulletproof, the quiz is amazing, so if you’re into the quiz, you’ll get the Weakest Link, you’ll 100% get what you’re after.’
The Weakest Link airs on Thursday at 6:30pm on BBC One.
