George Clooney hasn’t played ER’s Dr Doug Ross since he made a special appearance in 2009, but that hasn’t stopped the ladies man character from getting him in hot water with his wife Amal.
The Hollywood star became a household name thanks to this role in the hit medical series but one person who hadn’t seen his work was the British lawyer, whom he married in 2014.
During an appearance on SmartLess podcat, the 59-year-old explained that his wife is now bingeing the show and she’s got some thoughts about his famous character.
Speaking to hosts Sean Hayes, Jason Bateman and Will Arnett, he stated: ‘My wife is watching them now and it’s getting me in a lot of trouble because I’d forgotten all of the terrible things he was doing picking up on women.
When Jason suggested Amal was getting starstruck by her husband’s bad boy doctor character, George laughed back: ‘Yeah, that’s not my wife.’
George donned his white coat and stethoscope to play the pediatrician from 1994 to 1999, before leaving the show to pursue movies that helped him become one of the industry’s most influential leading men.
Later on in the chat, the Ocean’s Eleven was happy to talk about the qualities that he did love about his wife as he recalled the first time they met.
‘She was brilliant and funny and beautiful and kind,’ he explained. ‘I was sort of swept off my feet. We got engaged after a few months and got married within the first year that we met.’
He continued: ‘It surprised me more than probably anybody else in the world—and everybody else was pretty surprised. We haven’t ever had an argument.
‘You know, everybody’s been slammed together because of the coronavirus and a lot of friends’ relationships have been tested. For us, it’s been really easy.’
The ridiculously smitten couple shares two three-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella.
