Gogglebox cast reach out to Tom Malone Jr. as he suddenly quits day before series returns to Channel 4

The Gogglebox cast has reached out to Tom Malone Jr. in their droves following the news he quit the Channel 4 series a day before its return tonight.

The 26-year-old confirmed he was finally putting the ‘remote down’ to pursue new TV projects while his family – mum Julie, dad Tom, and brother Sean – continue to commentate on the week’s TV.

Naturally, his family said they were ‘proud’ of the professional dancer for taking a giant leap but other Gogglebox favourites have since shared their support.

The Siddiqui Family – made up of dad Sid, and sons Baasit and Umar – wrote on Instagram: ‘All the best mate. Good luck with whatever exciting ventures lay in store.’

Ellie Warner, who is usually joined by sister Izzy on the programme, followed with: ‘All the best Tom,’ with a love heart emoji, while Stephen Webb’s husband Daniel Lustig wrote: ‘Good luck @tommalonejr for your new journey.’

Confirming the news on Twitter yesterday, Tom shared a picture of himself holding up a sign which read: ‘Back on the market. Get at me with any TV work.’

‘So after 6 and a half years it’s finally time to put down the remote and say goodbye to Gogglebox.

‘I’ve loved every minute and I’m eternally grateful to Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for allowing me to be a part of the show. But new opportunities are knocking on the door and it’s time to explore them.

‘I look forward to enjoying the show as a viewer and not having to worry about saying something stupid. PS. Don’t worry my parents and brother will still be on the show to keep you entertained every Friday.’

Gogglebox returns tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
