Gogglebox: Jenny and Lee confirm show will return for 2022 in sweet message to fans after wrapping filming for Christmas

Gogglebox favourites and best pals Jenny Newby and Lee Riley posted an update from their famous sofa after completing filming for series 18 of the Channel 4 show.

The cast of Gogglebox have got the nation through some of the bleakest times by continuing to provide laughs during the pandemic.

Friday night’s episode was the last in the current series, with a few more episodes over the Christmas period to tie us over until next year.

Jenny and Lee confirmed they’d finished up on filming until 2022, but don’t worry, as the pair also addressed when they would be back on-screens in the New Year – and there won’t be too long to wait.

Speaking on a video posted to their joint Instagram, Lee begun: ‘Hi everybody, we’d just like to thank you so much for all the messages during series 18.

‘As you can see, we are on our last filming day today,’ before Lee showed fans around their living room.

Jenny ushered the camera back towards herself, continuing: ‘Hello, I’m here, back again!

‘I’d just like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

‘It’s been lovely coming to all your living rooms every week… I’ve loved loads of your furnishings, they’ve been very nice and I’ve pinched loads of ideas.’

They then went on to detail when the show would be back on screens, and it’s only a few weeks away.

‘Can I just say my bit now?’ Lee joked. ‘Anyway guys, we’ll see you all in February.’

Jenny finished off the festive message by adding: ‘We’ll see you soon, love you all!’

The upcoming series will be the 19th to air on Channel 4, after series 18 began in September 2021.

As always, its stars delivered the best takes on shows such as the Great British Bake Off, Strictly Come Dancing and Vigil.

They’ve also navigated us through some of the biggest news in the autumn months, including the fuel crisis and the the latest updates on the pandemic.

We can’t wait for their scathing critiques at all of 2022’s must-see TV and news.

Gogglebox returns on Saturday, December 25 at 9.15pm on Channel 4.
