Gogglebox: Sophie Sandiford reveals new career path after being made redundant

Gogglebox’s Sophie Sandiford has revealed that she has found a new career path after being made redundant from Debenhams.

The Channel 4 star, who is known for gossiping about the latest telly with her brother Pete, was let go from her position as a window dresser in December after the high street retailer collapsed.

Rather than follow in the footsteps of other young Gogglebox stars, who have gone on to embrace the celebrity lifestyle, Sophie is keen to keep her feet on the ground.

As the series continued on Friday, Sophie revealed that she had now moved on and started working as a florist.

The Blackpool star seems more than happy with her new career path for now, after last series breaking down in tears on screen over the discovery of Debenhams closings its doors.

Crying to her Pete as he looked after her, she said: ‘It’s just s*** for everybody. It’s going to get even worse; more people are going to lose their jobs and things like that. It’s just awful.’

Sophie and Pete are Gogglebox favourites, leading the cast alongside regular faces including The Malone Family, Giles and Mary and the Siddiquis.

Last month, Pete revealed that their family was expanding as he had got engaged in between series – popping the question to Paige Yeomans.

‘Do you feel any different now that you’ve got engaged?’ Sophie asked.

‘Yeah, I think,’ he replied. ‘I feel like an even bigger responsibility. I don’t know why. I’m going to have a wife.’

‘Yes, you’re going to have a wife,’ Sophie added.

In a later comparison to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry following their interview with Oprah, he joked he realised he was also, essentially, marrying her family and mum as well.

Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
