Gogglebox viewers have targeted Giles Wood and Mary Killen after they expressed their political opinions on the show.
The duo has been on the long-running Channel 4 show since 2015, and they have delivered several memorable moments over the year.
However, their remarks during a section on the most recent programme have left many people disappointed.
This week, the couch critics viewed footage of the recent by-elections, which elicited a slew of snarky comments from the group.
Mary asked her husband whether she knew the results, to which he responded, ‘No, I don’t watch mainstream media because I don’t believe it anymore.
Meanwhile, Sophie Sandiford was interested by by-elections because they ‘always contained a little of controversy’.
‘You usually only get them if someone’s been sacked for misconduct or doing something illegal or have left,’ she said.
‘Or have died,’ her brother Pete quipped.
After learning of the big swing against the Tories, various TV stars targeted Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
The true pushback occurred when Giles and Mary began to dwell on the 1997 election.
‘It’s going to be even worse than then. With all those people crowing about a Labour victory and we pretended that we voted for them because we were worried we were going to be lynched,’ he said.
Quickly sharing their own thoughts on social media, those watching on at home didn’t hold back.
‘Sorry Giles and Mary, you were my faves at one time but no more. You are rich therefore you’re happy with Torys unfairness. As long as the rich are ok you are happy,’ user Fiona posted on X.
‘Tory w*****s showing their true colours on #Gogglebox,’ Jason said.
Anthony wrote: ‘Always forgot how much I truly hate Giles and Mary. At First I thought they were a bit weird, but now it’s beyond utterly unbearable whenever they appear on screen. Every new season I pray they won’t return, but then they f**king pop [up]. GB News loving Tory t**tsno doubts.’
Kasha also echoed: ‘Can’t believe how insufferable Giles and Mary are.’
‘Giles and Mary are Tories, what a surprise,’ Jan wrote.
‘Oh Giles, you’ve crashed and burned in my estimation,’ BeardyBill commented.
Another viewer said that while it was ‘no surprise’ they were Tories, they’d ‘been trying to ignore that for years’.
‘You would only lie about who you voted for if you knew there was shame in doing so. If so why the need to lie?’ someone else shared.
Meanwhile one person posted: ‘Ok they’re iconic but they’re tiring now, so miserable and always arguing. Time to go.’
This isn’t the first time the couple sparked outrage as last year Mary shocked viewers when labeling her husband a ‘b******d’.
While seeing the TV show Beef, she grew upset and defended Waitrose.
Giles began the argument by mentioning a character in the programme that resembled individuals ‘tutting in a queue in Waitrose’.
He said: ‘He’d be sent to that problem desk which I always avoid, somewhere in the middle of Waitrose where there’s always people queuing and tutting.
‘Do you remember that place? Where they express dissatisfaction?’
Mary brutally replied: ‘Oh you’re just such a b*****d. Waitrose is beautifully run, there’s never a queue of people tutting.’
Outside of Gogglebox, Giles is an artist who specialises in interior painting, while Mary writes a column for The Spectator.
Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
