Good Morning Britain host Alex Beresford slams ‘has been’ Prince Harry after James Corden appearance

Good Morning Britain host Alex Beresford cheekily took a swipe Prince Harry during Friday’s show after they played a clip of his interview with James Corden.

During the latest episode of The Late Late Show, James gave the Duke of Sussex his first tour around Los Angeles from an open-top double-decker bus.

The comedian not only arranged for the pair to have an afternoon tea, but he even got Prince Harry to rap the iconic theme song to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

On Friday’s GMB, hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard showed video footage from the interview which showed Prince Harry receiving a FaceTime call from his wife Meghan Markle.

The clip showed Meghan revealing the cute nickname she has for her husband – Haz.

As Ben and Kate laughed about the name, Ben turned to Alex and said: ‘Haz, Alex, Haz!” to which the weather reporter replied: ‘Has been.’

Ignoring the comment, Kate continued: ‘When you’re rapping The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air you’re called Haz, aren’t you?’

Ben chipped in: ‘Fresh Prince and Princess. It’s a lovely insight into…the anecdotal evidence if anyone has met him, I’ve been lucky enough to meet him on a couple of occasions.

‘He’s very down to earth, that’s exactly the sort of thing he’d be happy to do with James and have a laugh with.’

Following the programme, Alex took to social media where he tweeted: ‘Prince Haz will be trending today.’

He later went on to defend the Duke of Sussex by commenting: ‘Prince Harry says he stepped back, he didn’t step down. Ya’ll still won’t be happy with that though. He can’t win!’

‘This @JKCorden interview with Prince Harry is so refreshing! How can you not like the man? He spoke with respect whilst telling his truths,’ he added.

Elsewhere during the chat with James, the Duke of Sussex spoke about his relationship with Meghan as he explained that they spent their first few dates at home.

‘We got to spend an enormous amount of time just the two of us,’ he began.

‘There were no distractions, and that was great, it was an amazing thing. We went from zero to 60 in the first two months.’

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
