You’d think Ken Bruce, as the presenter of PopMaster, would be well-versed in all things musical.
Even specialists make mistakes from time to time.
Viewers of Good Morning Britain were perplexed when the radio host played the nostalgic game with Susanna Reid and Martin Lewis.
Ken put Susanna, Martin, and entertainment editor Richard Arnold on the hot seat and asked them a series of questions.
One of which put their knowledge to the test with songs from the 1990s… er, 1980s.
‘In what year were these three records in the top 10?’, one question asked.

The songs listed were Rhythm Is A Dancer by Snap!, It’s My Life by Dr Alban, and November Rain by Guns N’ Roses.
Susanna’s answer, 1989, was a reasonable guess.
Telling her she was wrong, Ken replied: ‘Oh, you were a mere seven years out!
‘It was 1982.’
As the deciding question, this meant Ken declared Richard the winner.
However, it didn’t take long for viewers to see Ken’s gaffe.
In fact, both Rhythm Is A Dancer and It’s My Life were released in 1992, while November Rain was released in 1991 but charted in 1992.
Ken, 72, had been out for ten years. But he went unchecked since no one noticed his mistake… if the internet is excluded.

‘ken bruce asking a pop master question and getting the wrong answer! Rhythm is a dancer/ it’s my life were 1992’, one person tweeted.
Another pointed out: ‘Ken Bruce’s pop expertise: November Rain by Guns N’ Roses released in ’82? Don’t think so Ken! Try 1992′.
‘Rhythm is a dancer by snap was 1992 not 1982 come on Ken Bruce get it right !!!!’, another tweeted.
‘Ken Bruce got it wrong rhythm is a dancer by snap was 1992 …not 1982 …come on Ken’, another echoed.
Don’t worry, Ken; we all make mistakes!
Ken’s visit on GMB follows the Scottish host’s announcement that PopMaster had been approved for a TV show.
The former Radio 2 host will host the quiz on Channel 4, which confirmed the adaptation in April.
‘It’s true! @RealKenBruce will be heading to TV soon as the iconic music quiz PopMaster heads to More 4’, Channel 4 tweeted.

Ken just switched to Greatest Hits radio, but he didn’t take PopMaster with him after presenting it since 1998.
In the new TV show, two candidates will be given ten questions regarding popular music from various genres from the 1950s to the current day.
For the chance to advance to the grand final, competitors will be asked to name artists as well as song names, or to identify the year a song was released.
‘After all these years we are finally bringing PopMaster to the telly where we’ll be challenging music lovers from around the country to not only recall a range of facts and stats about chart toppers and beyond over the decades, but to do so under the glare of studio lights and with the added pressure of television cameras,’ Ken said in a recent statement.
‘I can’t wait to get started – and find out whether I might have a face for TV after all.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
