Good Morning Britain’s Adil Ray has been hit with abusive messages from nasty trolls branding him ‘anti-English’ and ‘too Muslim’.

The 46-year-old presenter returned to front the ITV daytime programme this week, hosting the show alongside Kate Garraway through until Wednesday.

After wrapping up today’s episode, which saw him getting hot under the collar during a heated debate about the official David Cameron investigation, Adil shared that he’d received a bunch of horrible tweets.

‘This week on Twitter I’ve been called a lefty liberal, a true tory, a race-baiter, anti-English, too Muslim and not Muslim enough,’ he posted.

‘Phew! Back on your box next Monday @gmb for the next instalment. Thank you so much for giving us your time and watching. I’m loving every minute.’

Adil’s fans rallied around him after seeing his post and sent him kind messages of support.

‘For balance, I’d like to call you a top bloke,’ wrote one. ‘Keep being you.’

‘I love you being on GMB,’ penned another. ‘Let them moan they obviously have nothing better to do.’

A third added: ‘Has anyone this week told you that you’re bloody smashing and a proper looker? Cos if they haven’t, they should.’

Adil, who is Muslim, encouraged Dr Hilary Jones to dispel an important myth about Ramadan and the Covid-19 jab earlier this week, stating there is zero nutritional value in the coronavirus vaccine.

He is set to return to Good Morning Britain on Monday alongside resident presenter Susanna Reid.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
