The baker became a firm favourite among fans during her time on the show, but failed to impress the judges during patisserie week and will now miss out on the final.
Hermine left a hilarious and moving message after leaving the competition, reminding people that ‘being yourself is all you need to be’.
‘‘It has been an absolute privilege to have made it to the tent and to have baked alongside 11 fantastic bakers, each with their own strength. The camaraderie was amazing,’ she wrote.
‘I bake from the heart and all I wanted to do was put a smile on the judges’ faces with my bakes. Every week they enjoyed my flavours, it filled my heart with so much joy. What more do you need after a Preugasm or Paul taking your bake for lunch?’
Hermine added: ‘Matt and Noel were so kind and full of compassion when we needed it but also a great laugh! Well, when I did get the jokes (which was half the time).
She wrote: ‘The journey has proved to me that being yourself is all you need to be. Never let your fear come between you and the things you could achieve. It is ok to try new things, to be silly every now and then, and to laugh at your own silly self.’
Finally, Hermine added: ‘It does not make you any less reliable and dependable as a person. Yet it is liberating for your soul.’
On Tuesday’s show, the four contestants produced savarin desserts in the Signature challenge, before producing ornate danish cornucopia cakes in the technical, and crafting inspired cube cakes in the Showstopper.
After receiving the news on tonight’s show, Hermine said: ‘When I go home and I have time to reflect, there will be a lot of happy memories. It can only be good things.’
Her departure means that Peter, Dave and Laura will not go up against one another in next week’s final.
