Stars of the Great British Bake Off have paid tribute to this year’s winner Peter Sawkins, after he was crowned champion on Tuesday’s final.
The 20-year-old student beat finalist Dave Friday and Laura Adlington on tonight’s show, with Paul and Prue declaring him the winner after impressing throughout the competition.
Laura led the tribute to Peter, who is the youngest ever Bake Off winner, saying that her and Lottie spotted him as the winner from day one.
She said: ‘I’m so emotional (surprise surprise). How beautiful was that ending!? I can’t believe it’s over. I feel so blessed & so incredibly proud of everyone who managed to make it happen.
‘Huge congratulations Peter! Lottie and I clocked you as our winner from day one!!!’
The likes of ex-Bake Off star Candice Brown also posted about the show, which came to an emotional end of Tuesday.
Tuesday’s final saw the contestants present their last ever bakes to Paul and Prue, tasked with making custard slices, walnut whips and their final showstopper – a spectacular three-tiered dessert tower.
An ecstatic Peter said after the result: ‘I can’t quite believe that I’m here. This is gonna be a really huge chapter in my life, and what a way for it to end.’
