Great British Bake Off kissed goodbye to fan-favourite Lottie in scenes that aired tonight, after a tricky 80s Week.

The contestant was eliminated from the Channel 4 show after failing to impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood with her creations, with presenter Noel Fielding delivering the tough news.

‘It’s just like a massive relief, but obviously, I’m gutted that I’m not being with everyone every day,’ Lottie said upon her exit.

‘I cannot believe the stuff I have done. I got a handshake, I got a star baker.’

She later added: ‘I’m so chuffed with myself. Maybe I can bake.’

The judges confessed it was a close call between Lottie and Laura tonight, after Laura suffered a disaster with her ice cream cake in the showstopper round.

After learning she’d been spared another week, Laura told the cameras: ‘I think mixed emotions definitely right now. Really happy I got through, but Lottie is a really good friend.’

This week’s theme was a Bake Off first, with 80s Week.

First up, the bakers made their mark on a classic quiche Lorraine for the signature challenge.

Next up, they were tasked with creating custard doughnuts.

And, for the showstopper, the contestants had to create ice cream cakes – in a boiling hot tent.

Great British Bake Off continues on Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
