The Great British Bake Off final is just days away, and readers have voted Peter as their favourite baker to win the competition this year.

The 20-year-old student from Edinburgh will go up against Dave and Laura – but readers seem confident he’ll be the one who takes the title next Tuesday.

Peter is the clear favourite among the hundreds of readers who took part, with 68% selecting him as the baker who most deserves to win.

Laura and Dave were some way off in comparison, both with 16% of the vote.

Despite the result of the poll, it’s shaping up to be one of the closest finals in the history of the competition.

Speaking during Tuesday’s semi-final, Prue Leith said the remaining bakers are ‘as good as we’ve ever had’ on the show.

The baker left a hilarious and moving message after leaving the competition, reminding people that ‘being yourself is all you need to be’.

Following backlash from viewers, Laura reminded fans of the show that it’s not her fault Hermine was eliminated from the competition and encouraged disgruntled fans to be kind.

Hermine has since told fans ‘not to be unkind in her name’ following her exit from the tent.
