The presenter, who shocked viewers when he revealed his age, would often get up to naughty antics, prompting finalist Laura Adlington to affectionately dub him a ‘big kid’.
Recalling how Noel would keep himself entertained during the show, Laura exclusively told Metro.co.uk that he would specifically wreak havoc during the technical rounds.
‘He used to play a game where he’d steal the pictures of the bakers and he’d swap them around just for a laugh,’ Laura shared.
‘The producers would then have to watch the footage back to see whose was whose so the judges couldn’t give us the wrong feedback.’
She chuckled: ‘He’s so funny, he’s like a big kid really. He was always getting told off by producers. They’d say things like, “Hurry up, slow down, get off the fridge, get out the fridge.” He would just mess about all the time.’
Laura also revealed that Noel’s new co-host Matt Lucas would pay a trip to see the bakers practice in-between filming episodes.
‘He really cared about all of the bakers and would come and see us in the practice kitchen on his days off,’ she said. ‘He’s a really genuine and lovely human being, they both are.’
This year’s Bake Off ended last month, with Peter being crowned champ and Laura and Dave Friday named the runners up.
