The Great British Bake Off semi-final is set to air next week and it looks like there’s going to be disasters all over the shop as the tent reaches dizzying temperatures yet again.
In a preview clip ahead of the hotly-anticipated episode, the remaining four bakers rise to the challenges that await them, which includes a mind-bending technical, as they fight for a place in the final.
But, judging by the teaser, it’s going to be far from smooth-sailing as the contestants attempt to keep cool with handheld fans and Laura is seen in floods of tears over her bakes.
Attempting to comfort her, presenter Matt Lucas asks: ‘How’s it going?’
‘I just don’t have a logical brain,’ Laura replies as she holds her head in her hands.
It’s not the first time the tent has been struck by the scorching summer heat, as the bakers were tasked with making ice cream cakes in the peak of summer earlier in the series.
Paul defended setting the task on the hottest day of the year, telling Matt: ‘We didn’t know that. Did we? We didn’t know that.’
Last night’s episode saw Marc eliminated from the competition after failing to impress Prue and Paul with his jelly cake showstopper.
Speaking about his exit, Marc told the cameras: ‘I came to Bake Off to face my anxiety, to face failure, to face all those things that people are quite uncomfortable about dealing with.
‘I’ve definitely learnt a bit more about myself.’
Hermine was named star baker, the second time she has earned the accolade this series.
She’ll be battling it out against Laura, Dave and Peter in semi-final.
Great British Bake Off continues on Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
