Various injuries have occurred in The Great British Bake Off tent throughout the years… and the most recent gory mishap has many supporters uneasy.
On the most recent episode of Channel 4’s 2023 series, the remaining bakers faced Pastry Week.
The chefs were tasked with creating savoury picnic portions for their trademark bakes, a beautiful puff pastry dish for the technical, and ornate sweet pies for their all-important showstoppers.
However, Dan, who has shown to be one of the competition’s top contestants this year, inadvertently put himself into problems by suffering a gruesome wound during the technical.
While grating, he disclosed that he required a plaster after accidently grating his own knuckles, and the blood had gotten into his pastry, forcing him to prepare a fresh batch.
This is truly stomach-churning material.

One viewer reacted to the slip-up on X (formerly Twitter) by writing: ‘Oh Dan,’ alongside a nauseous-looking emoji.
Another compared Dan to Mrs Lovett from Sweeney Todd, who had a propensity for making pies using human meat, remarking: ‘Not Dan doing a Mrs Lovett by getting blood in his pastry.’
Someone other pointed out that, because the episode of Bake Off airs exactly a week before Halloween on October 31st, the moment was technically appropriate for the scary season.
‘I think Dan could have got away with blood in his pastry, it is nearly Halloween eh #GBBO @BritishBakeOff,’ they said.

Even if that is the case, we would much rather have our pastries without the blood.
Despite the glitch during his technical, Dan was able to bake his way back to the top, winning the technical after being assessed by Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith.
After no one was sent home last week, two bakers will be eliminated in the newest episode of the show.
The pressure is on!
The Great British Bake Off returns next Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
