Great British Bake Off’s Prue Leith makes unexpected Hollywood debut in Netflix’s Red Notice alongside actual Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson

Great British Bake Off judge and all around hun Prue Leith has made her Hollywood debut in the new Netflix movie Red Notice, alongside Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

The 81-year-old makes a brief but memorable cameo in the blockbuster as Gal Gadot’s character is shown watching a historical episode of Bake Off when the contestants had to make cakes resembling celebrities with some questionable results.

In what is thought to be the most expensive Netflix movie ever made with an estimated $200million (£145millino) budget, according to Forbes, Prue is seen tucking into a Freddie Mercury inspired showstopper created by Laura Adlington.

Laura herself shared the moment on her Instagram stories and wrote: ‘So many of you have messaged me to let me know my Freddie cake is featured in the new Red Notice movie on Netflix (thank you). How cool is that?’

In another grab, she added: ‘Pinch me! Gal Gadot is watching my cake on Bake Off!’

Prue and Laura aren’t the only two cameos in the picture, with Ed Sheeran making a hilarious appearance which has already sparked a series of memes of the singer saying, ‘I’m Ed Sheeran, Bitch’.

Director Rawson Marshall Thurber told GamesRadar+: ‘It’s actually my favourite part of the movie. Ed, from the very first pitch, was who I wanted.

‘When the time came, I had a mutual friend who put us in touch and I emailed Ed – who is the loveliest person on the planet, by the way – and I sent him a picture of my notebook when I was writing the pitch.

‘It had his name in it, so he knew I wasn’t fooling.’

Red Notice has already broken records for Netflix, with the biggest ever opening day for a movie from the streaming giant, according to its stars.

The Rock shared a video on his Instagram and wrote: ‘It’s OFFICIAL as the numbers are coming in from 190 territories around the world.

‘RED NOTICE has become THE BIGGEST OPENING EVER ~ for ANY MOVIE IN THE HISTORY OF NETFLIX!’

Red Notice is available to stream on Netflix while Great British Bake Off is available to stream on All 4.
