Grey’s Anatomy season 18 finally welcomed back world class neo natal surgeon, Dr Addison Mongomery, who hasn’t been seen in the ABC series since 2011.
In the episode aired last night (October 14) titled ‘Hotter Than Hell’ temperatures certainly did start to rise as Addison (Kate Walsh) was put on a mission to get Richard Webber’s (James Pickens Jr) residency students back on track.
Introducing herself in her epic comeback, she said to the students: ‘I’m Dr Addison Montgomery and you must be the group that’s screwing up the [residency] programme?’
The residents couldn’t believe their eyes to see the distinguished doctor leading their programme in the hospital, with the gossip soon making its way around Grey Sloan.
Addison’s return will also see her carrying out the hospital’s first uterine transplant, in a revolutionary procedure, which is set to cause problems next week.
Actress Kate took to her social media after her return was broadcast to thank fans for the outpouring of love she’d received online.
She said: ‘Thank you all for making this night so special! …Feels like I never left. Hope you all loved the episode as much as I did.’
Fans were over the moon to see her return and back with her pal Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorscone).
One shared: ‘Saw the episode of Grey’s where @katewalsh came back and I’m crying I missed Addison so much #GreysAnatomy.’
‘Meredith and addison congratulating each other on their achievements has me crying #GreysAnatomy,’ wrote another.
A third added: ‘It was really great to see Addison & Meredith work together #GreysAnatomy.’
‘I can’t believe I’ve just saw Meredith and Addison in one frame laughing together omg I cant express how truly grateful I am. @EllenPompeo @katewalsh #GreysAnatomy,’ echoed a fourth.
Another fan commented: ‘The Amelia/Addison reunion was so touching #Addison #GreysAnatomy.’
A teaser for next week’s episode showed things are about to get much more complex for Dr Montgomery, very quickly.
The snippet of the upcoming instalment sees Richard come into theatre and warn her: ‘The AC is out, the whole hospital is down, you need to close her up as soon as possible.
‘I’m not stopping Tovah’s transplant, she’s been waiting months for this,’ the doctor reminds her colleague.
“Find a way to double your speed,’ he demands, to which Addison replies: ‘Find me a set of hands as experienced… get me Meredith Grey.’
