Grey’s Anatomy will see another character join Meredith Grey on the beach as season 17 continues to leave viewers on the edge of their seats.
Meredith is battling coronavirus on the show and has already seen her ex-husband Derek Shepherd on her dream beach.
However, the teaser for the fourth episode – titled You’ll Never Walk Alone – has promised that ‘another person from her past returns.’
In the clip, Meredith notices a figure — who’s never revealed to the viewer — up in the distance.
‘Excuse me!’, she yells as she tried to get a better look. The fact she smiles and has her hand on her heart seems to indicate it’ll be someone dear to her.
When a fan suggested the character might be the late George O’Malley, Ellen tweeted: ‘That @ABCNetwork promo department are messing with y’all in a major way no? @GreysABC.’
She then added: ‘If you really think about it… there’s a lot of people it could be’.
When another viewer claimed a character like Meredith’s dad Thatcher making an appearance wouldn’t make sense, Ellen pointed out: ‘In dreams nothing makes sense.’
Meredith has been known to dream of dead/gone friends when she’s on the verge of death.
Denny (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the bomb squad guy (Kyle Chandler appeared to her when she was drowning in season three!
Fans have already noted that a lot of the show’s departed cast have had their IMDb dates updated to 2020.
Actors with dead characters like T. R. Knight (George), Loretta Devine (Adele Webber), and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Denny Duquette, Jr.) would make sense to appear on the dream beach.
However, several actors with living characters on the show have also had their dates updated.
Sandra Oh (Cristina Yang), Jessica Capshaw (Arizona Robbins), Sara Ramirez (Callie Torres), Jerrika Hinton (Stephanie Edwards), and even Katherine Heigl (Izzie Stevens) are all allegedly playing some part in 2020, according to the site.
However, actors who have played key dead characters are missing from this list including Chyler Leigh (Lexie Grey) and Eric Dane (Mark Sloan).
