Gwen Stefani brushed away her emotions on Monday night’s episode of The One Show after being greeted with a video greeting from her musical inspiration.
The Sweet Escape singer, 53, appeared on the main BBC One show ahead of her weekend gigs in London’s Hyde Park.
During her appearance, broadcasters Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas gave Gwen a customised DVD from Pauline Black of The Selecter, a musician she believes has had a significant effect on her musical career.
In the clip, Pauline, 69, said: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled that I’ve influenced you and your music. Sending you lots of love my dear.’
Gwen was in bits after watching Pauline’s heartfelt message. ‘I’m crying right now,’ she admitted. ‘Zoom in now because these are real tears. I can’t believe that. That’s incredible.’
‘She was my idol when I was like 13 and she just talked to me!’
Gwen is preparing to participate as a special guest at Pink’s BST Hyde Park events this weekend in London, alongside Tinashe, Lyra, and others.
Gwen’s husband, Blake Sheraton, was decorated with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the area of recording last month.
During the wedding, she referred to her husband as a “country music jukebox” and “the most wonderful guy you’ll ever meet.”
‘It blows my mind to be here today, standing on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, celebrating my husband,’ she said while addressing the crowd.
Addressing Blake directly, she continued: ‘Blake, you are a rare human being and for all the success that you’ve had in your life as a singer, a songwriter, a musician, a performer, an entertainer, an actor… he’s the same guy today as he was back then, a country guy with a love for country music.
‘He’s magnetic, the most generous person you’ll ever know. And always just him, no matter where he goes.
‘The reason, Blake Shelton, you are here today on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is because you are part of the country dream, the Hollywood dream, and you are part of the American dream.
‘And everybody knows you’re my dream come true.’
