Harry Potter fans have begged bosses to ‘keep James Corden away’ from hosting the upcoming cast reunion, amid the 20-year celebrations.
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are among the stars returning for HBO Max’s Return To Hogwarts special, to celebrate the milestone anniversary.
Fresh from the success of that iconic Friends reunion, the one-off programme was confirmed yesterday and is due to hit screens on New Year’s Day – with a host yet to be named.
However, while we’re all dusting off our spell book and trying to retrace where we last saw our wand, excited viewers have shared their thoughts on the big event, and have not-so kindly requested that the Gavin and Stacey actor steers clear.
Flocking to Twitter, one savagely begged: ‘The Harry Potter reunion better not be like the Friends reunion where James Corden is there for no apparent reason other than to ruin everything.’
‘Keep James Corden away from the Harry Potter reunion,’ another agreed.
‘No f**king James Corden in Harry Potter special, please,’ a viewer pleaded.
‘I solemnly swear if James Corden somehow slithers his way into the harry potter reunion,’ a follower commented.
As a Twitter user announced they were over the whole thing, adding: ‘Nah keep the Harry Potter special, HBO. Nobody needs James Corden hosting and Bieber flying across stage on a Nimbus 2000.’
Meanwhile, the petition to keep James out from the upcoming live-action adaptation of Wicked is nearly at 100,000 signatures…
There has been speculation that we will be blessed with a wizarding reunion for a while now, with the news finally confirmed yesterday.
Daniel, Emma and Rupert – who played Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley respectively – will be appearing on the special, alongside some of their famous co-stars.
Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton and Tom Felton are also set to appear, as well as director Christopher Columbus, who helmed the first two films of the franchise.
The official Harry Potter Twitter account announced the programme is flying onto screens on New Year’s Day, on HBO Max.
‘For the first time ever, the legendary cast returns to where the magic started. Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: #ReturnToHogwarts, streaming New Year’s Day, only on @HBOMax,’it read.
However, it has not been made clear when this will air in the UK.
