‘He raised everyone’s game’: Good Morning Britain’s Richard Arnold praises Piers Morgan as Richard Madeley is tipped for permanent role

Good Morning Britain’s Richard Arnold has praised working with Piers Morgan after the host sensationally quit the show earlier this year.

The former GMB anchor quit his slot on ITV back in March after he became embroiled in a row over comments on the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.

Nearly eight months later, the programme still doesn’t have a permanent replacement confirmed for Piers.

But in the meantime, GMB showbiz reporter Richard has revealed what Piers was like during his five years on the show.

Speaking to Ok! Online, he shared: ‘Piers had his own trademark when it came to presenting and everyone else has their own style.

‘The five years we were all there, we had great fun as a team. We kept it real throughout the whole time.

‘Piers was a team player and he’s an incredibly loyal player as well. He raised everybody’s game.’

Richard recognised Piers’ ability to get into heated discussions without much help but did seem to enjoy the thrill of it all.

‘He could have an argument with a grasshopper. He’d go off on a tangent and we’d all be there trying to bring it back, but it just felt exhilarating every time,’ added the star.

Piers landed a huge deal to front a slot on News Corp’s new TV network, TalkTV, which will start broadcasting in early 2022.

On Wednesday, Richard Madeley addressed ongoing speculation he is about to be named Piers’ official replacement.

However, he played down rumours on-air and said: ‘I’m doing the show down the line along with other people.’

Richard has been stepping in to help on the breakfast show alongside Adil Ray, Alastair Campbell and Martin Lewis – but who will end up replacing Piers?

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
