During Netflix’s Tudum event in Brazil, Henry Cavill spoke an emotional farewell to The Witcher.
Last October, it was revealed that the 40-year-old actor has left the Netflix fantasy series, with Liam Hemsworth taking over as Geralt of Rivia in season 4.
During the fan event, the Man of Steel star delivered a tearful address and specifically mentioned his co-stars Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra, and Joey Batey.
‘Thank you very much to all. Thank you. I really feel the love, and I love you too. It’s wonderful to be here,’ he began.
‘I actually just want to talk about my co-stars here, because once again it was such a pleasure and an honour to be working with you guys.’
He continued: ‘You guys bring so much nuance and detail to these characters, which are often at risk of being oversimplified, and what you guys have done with the characters has involved work, care, and effort.’
‘So, [I] just want to say I’m gonna miss you. I’m gonna miss you very much.’
Both batches of episodes – a total of eight – are set to be released this summer, with Volume 1 arriving on Thursday, June 29 around the globe.
Volume 2 will follow almost a month later, on Thursday, July 27.
The teaser begins in a foreboding manner, with Geralt opening a creaking door into a mystery corridor.
As he sips a drink, his eyes grow fully dark, perhaps in preparation for a confrontation with a horrific beast or opponent.
Grasping his sword from his back, Geralt says in a voiceover: ‘Now for the first time I understand real fear.’
Lauren S Hissrich, the author of The Witcher TV adaption, shared some insights about Henry’s final season ahead of its release.
‘Henry has given so much to the show and so we want to honour that appropriately,’ she told EW.
The Witcher season 3 volume 1 drops on Thursday June 29 on Netflix.
