Just a few days ago, Liz Truss resigned as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, having served for a record-breaking mere 44 days.
While members of the public pored over every word of the politician’s resignation speech, which lasted just over a minute and a half, some couldn’t help but express disappointment over the absence of a certain individual – the so-called ‘Hot Podium Guy’.
The sound engineer, whose name is Tobias Gough, has gained a dedicated fanbase after being spotted on TV helping to set up the lectern outside No 10 Downing Street on several occasions.
Several expressed their disappointment over his absence last week – but never fear, as he was back today to position the podium ahead of Ms Truss’ farewell speech to the nation.
‘HERE HE IS,’ one person celebrated over Mr Gough’s return, after he was spotted on BBC News’ live broadcast at No 10 behind celebrated newsreader Huw Edwards.
‘Nearly missed him,’ someone else admitted, while another jokingly referred to the number of speeches that have been made outside the PM’s official residence as of late, writing: ‘It’s basically his full time job now.’
Today, Ms Truss made her final address as Mr Sunak is officially named the new Prime Minister.
In her speech, she said: ‘It has been a huge honour of this great country. In particular, to lead the nation in mourning the death of her late majesty the Queen after 70 years of service, and welcoming the accession of his majesty King Charles III.
In a short while, Mr Sunak will appear outside No 10 Downing Street for his first address to the nation.
