A pensioner who went viral for his hilariously British interview after receiving the coronavirus vaccine took a swipe at Piers Morgan as he addressed his newfound fame.
Martin Kenyon, 91, sent the internet into a frenzy on Tuesday as he told a CNN reporter he was late for his jab because he ‘damn well couldn’t find anywhere to park’.
The star joined today’s Good Morning Britain where he described his viral video as ‘rather ridiculous’ before making a jibe at presenter Piers.
‘It’s rather ridiculous isn’t it?’ Martin said. ‘I’d rather hoped it was some 24-hour nonsense, but here we are.’
Piers later began to press Martin on his life and asked about his grandchildren, stating: ‘I know a lot about you.’
‘Yes, you do,’ Martin observed, before cracking out the side-splitting dig. ‘And who are you? Who are you?’
Susanna erupted with laughter in the studio, while Piers introduced himself: ‘Martin, my name is Piers Morgan.’
Martin was given the coronavirus vaccine at Guy’s Hospital in London on Tuesday,
‘I got inside and they duly put me on the list,’ he shared, in his viral interview. ‘I went off and had a rather nasty lunch, and then came back and they were ready for me.
‘It didn’t hurt at all. I didn’t know the needle had gone in until it had come out. It was very interesting and painless.’
He continued: ‘I don’t intend to have it [coronavirus]. Well, there’s no point in dying when I’ve lived this long is there. I don’t plan to, anyway.’
The grandfather also added that he wanted to live a ‘long time’ to see his granddaughters grow up and enjoy their lives.
The interview had more than 2.5 million views on Twitter, with Mr Kenyon being described as a ‘superstar’, a ‘hero’ and ‘lovely’.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
