According to rumours, Holly Willoughby is already preparing her comeback to television following her surprise departure from This Morning.
Following a difficult year and the resignation of co-host Phillip Schofield, the 42-year-old personality will not return to the ITV daily programme after 14 years.
The ‘cringey’ opening credits in her honour that aired the day following her announcement disappointed many.
While Holly has announced her departure from This Morning, it is widely assumed that she will return to host the forthcoming season of Dancing on Ice.
‘Holly has told friends she wants to do Dancing on Ice,’ a source told The Mirror. Despite her choice to leave This Morning, she remains an ITV family member who enjoys the show.’
This Morning presenters Holly and Phil presented the ITV reality competition series for the most of its existence until Phil, 61, shockingly departed ITV after confessing to lying about an affair with a young colleague at the network.
According to rumours, Phil’s new host is Stephen Mulhern, 46, who is reportedly considering the offer.
An insider told The Mirror: ‘Stephen is the perfect choice. Not only does he get on brilliantly with Holly, he is relaxed and fun which sits well with a show like Dancing on Ice.’
An ITV spokesperson did not address the claims but said: ‘We will be confirming details about Dancing on Ice 2024 in due course.’
While Holly was greeted with well wishes after her leave, not everyone was pleased with her departure from This Morning.
Ulrika Jonsson replied to an Instagram image that mocked Holly’s departure, showing a blonde Wilko employee wandering through an empty shop with the caption: ‘Holly Willoughby going round the This Morning studio.’
After the account described it as the ‘end of an era’, Ulrika, 56, commented by quipping: ‘Or the end of an error.’
Ulrika previously branded Holly and Phillip’s alleged fallout as a ‘war of the egos’.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
