One viewer phoned in to Tuesday’s instalment to share the news that her son, Alfie is doing 200 squats to raise much-needed funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Mum Anja was one of many viewers to ring into the programme to talk about her ‘good news story’.
‘He’s doing 200 squats just to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust,’ she began.
‘Currently, none of the charities are getting a lot of funds and he said to me for his mental and physical health he would like to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.’
‘Good for him,’ Holly chipped in. ‘How much money has he raised so far?’
To which Anja replied: ‘We are currently on £130.’
‘Has he got a target that he wants to hit?’ Holly quizzed. ‘Or is he just seeing how it goes?’
‘At the moment he wishes to raise £150.’
Phillip then weighed in offering to ‘top up’ Alfie’s fundraiser.
‘We’re going to top it up for you,’ he explained. ‘What’d do you reckon?’
Holly responded: ‘£500, how does £500 sound?’
A shocked Anja couldn’t believe it as she said: ‘No way.’
It’s not the first time, the duo have made a generous gesture on the ITV chat show.
Last month Holly offered to send a mum, who was struggling to homeschool her children in lockdown, a printer.
The mum-of-three called June explained that she had to write out all of her twins’ work as their printer was not working properly.
‘Do you know what, I’ve got a spare printer at home. I’m going to bring it in tomorrow. Give us your address. I actually have a spare printer,’ Holly told her.
‘Mine broke, I ordered a new one and the other one kicked back into life, and all I keep doing when I’m sitting at my desk is banging my leg on it. You can have that printer.
‘I’ll bring it in tomorrow and you can have it, so that’s sorted your printer out. It’s not much, but it’s a printer.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
