Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield and This Morning guest Matthew Wright had a near miss on today’s show when a light came close to falling on them.

The trio were getting ready to talk about the accuracy of The Crown season 4 when they were distracted by ‘something jittering’ above them.

Initially joking that it was ‘Santa on the roof’, presenters Holly and Phil then began to worry when the sounds continued.

‘Something’s moving up there and it’s not meant to!,’ Phillip declared, with all three looking up at what was going on.

Looking slightly worried, Matthew admitted he wanted to move as the cameras panned up to show a swinging set light hovering directly above his head.

Holly then informed him he couldn’t because of Covid restrictions, but agreed that she wasn’t happy remaining on the sofa.

‘If it comes down you’re going to have to take it full on the head,’ Phillip then said.

‘What we need is an assurance from the sound department that everything is OK. Or the lighting department, funnily enough.’

Eventually, they were instructed to move over to a separate area of the studio while the issue was fixed.

Phillip later revealed that the light was now safe, after becoming entangled in its own cord meaning it was unable to move.
