Holly Willoughby celebrates having her Covid vaccine: ‘It was quite emotional’

Holly Willoughby has celebrated having her Covid vaccine, saying that it was ‘quite an emotional experience’.

On Thursday’s edition of This Morning, Holly and her co-host Phillip Schofield opened the programme by talking about her going for her jab yesterday.

‘Excited here in the studio, because you’ve been done!’ Phillip said to Holly, to which she replied: ‘I’ve been done – I am fully vaccinated.

‘Yesterday I went for my vaccine and I stood in the queue and I went in – totally seamless, all fine.’

Holly explained that in her view, ‘it’s quite an emotional experience’ going for the vaccine because of the ‘atmosphere’ of being surrounded by people who are on the road to becoming ‘safe and protected’.

‘I think because you’ve been talking about it for so long and then you go in there and it’s everybody around you, a real atmosphere that we’re all finally getting that vaccination that we’ve wanted and you’re sort of on the road to being completely safe and protected. So yeah, it was amazing,’ she said.

Phillip, who has also been vaccinated, described the process as ‘unbelievably efficient’.

‘You’re in and you’re out, I shook it all about,’ he said, before joking that he was ‘so thrilled’ about getting his jab that he did in fact shake it all about ‘all the way down the corridor on the way out’.

Holly admitted that she had been concerned about having side effects from the vaccine after having it on a Wednesday.

However, after worrying that she might have a temperature afterwards, the TV presenter said ‘I feel fine’.

Phillip added that other than a ‘slightly bruised arm’, he also didn’t experience side effects afterwards.

While Holly said she felt ‘left out’ over not also having a bruised arm to show for it, she was excited about receiving a badge… something that Phillip appeared extremely jealous of.

‘I didn’t get a badge!’ he exclaimed, before asking the members of the crew in the studio who had also been given a badge after getting the jab.

‘I got a badge and I wore it all day,’ Holly said gleefully, adding that she placed her badge on her purse.

Holly marked the occasion of having her jab with an Instagram post, writing: ‘Had my vaccine yesterday… straight forward and seamless… felt super emotional (it’s been tough right?).

‘Thank you to our incredible @nhsengland for everything… for being there when you need them most. We are so lucky to live in a country that has a system that has rolled out vaccines so successfully…Back to work today with a spring in my step…’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
