Holly Willoughby is claimed to be ‘in a right condition’ over returning as host of Dancing On Ice without co-presenter Phillip Schofield.
The former This Morning host, 42, announced her departure from the ITV daytime show after 14 years, citing a “difficult goodbye,” generating an outpouring of sympathy from her former co-stars.
She stated at the time that she felt compelled to make the choice for herself and her family, adding, ‘It’s been an honour to merely be a part of its journey, and I believe this tale has many chapters yet to go.’
Holly has yet to comment on whether she will return to other presenting positions, and a Dancing On Ice host is yet to be named, despite the fact that the whole lineup has already been unveiled and the debut event is just weeks away.
According to a source, Holly is ‘in a right state’ over the issue, and that if she quits now, it might mean the end of her live broadcasting days.
The insider told Mail Online: ‘Holly has got herself in a right state about it.
‘She absolutely loves ITV, she is loyal to them and they have been extremely loyal to her, but she’s just not sure if she can do it.
‘Holly doesn’t want to let anyone down. It is literally the toughest decision for her. I mean, what do you do? It starts in a few weeks, she knows that. It’s a huge quandary.’
The source added: ‘With what Holly has been faced with in the past few months, that is a hard commitment to make. She’s worried, she’s terrified and it is absolutely awful for her.’
Holly’s departure from This Morning came just months after Schofield’s, amid allegations that the two were ‘barely speaking’, after he resigned from ITV in full following a surprise disclosure that he once had a ‘unwise but not criminal’ romance with a younger staffer.
Stephen Mulhern had previously revealed conversations had taken place about him replacing Schofield as host of the ITV competition.
‘We are talking about it,’ he explained.
‘But I promise you now that nothing is confirmed but if it happens, it will be absolutely amazing… if it doesn’t, look, it doesn’t.
‘I promise you I would tell you if we had it confirmed at this point.’
According to The Mirror, Holly, who has three children with husband Dan Baldwin, has informed pals that she still wants to host Dancing On Ice when it returns next year.
‘In spite of her decision to walk away from This Morning, she’s still part of the ITV family and loves the show,’ the added.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1. Dancing On Ice returns in 2024.
