Announcing the news on today’s programme, the presenters exclaimed that taking over the protected woodland is officially the show’s ‘biggest-ever project.’
‘Covid has made us all appreciate the natural world around us and we thought we’d like to continue that new-found appreciation by doing our little bit to help the planet,’ Phil declared.
‘Which is why we’ve bought a forest!’ Holly continued.
‘Well, the show has bought a forest,’ Phil cleared up.
While the hosts couldn’t reveal the exact location of the forest, they did explain that it’s an ancient woodland of several acres and can never be built on.
‘Now we’ve saved hundreds of trees and shrubs and bugs and wildlife all in our forest,’ Phil exclaimed.
‘It’s so beautiful!’ Holly gasped. ‘We’re going to have to get a Maid Marion and Robin Hood outfit and just run through it.’
Viewers were then transported to the stunning location, with new host Julia Bradbury revealing that Holly and Phil will present This Morning from the forest at the end of the month.
Viewers were seriously impressed by the ITV programme’s mission to help protect the environment and flooded social media with praise.
‘Another reason for me to LOVE @thismorning,’ wrote one. ‘I’m always trying to do my bit to save the environment so I love this.’
Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘LOVING the #ThisMorning forest. Well done for helping nature and protecting it for our future generations.’
Holly and Phil will get to visit the forest for the episode set to air on September 30 – and it won’t be one to miss.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
