Holly Willoughby screams in terror as Phillip Schofield finds a spider in her hair live on air

Holly Willoughby’s Monday got off to a dramatic start today, after she screamed in terror when Phillip Schofield found a spider in her hair live on air.

The pair were introducing the first This Morning of the week when Phillip spotted the uninvited creepy crawly.

‘It’s Halloween coming up. Don’t panic but you’ve got a spider in your hair,’ Phillip said, just moments into the show.

‘Get it out! Get it out! What is it, what is it?’ Holly screamed.

Thankfully, it was a smaller critter than Holly had initially feared.

‘Oh, it’s only a little one,’ she said after Phillip had removed it for her.

‘Can you say “You’ve got a money spider in your hair?” when I’m expecting a tarantula on my head.’

‘I’m not going to say that, am I. Where’s the fun in that?’ Phillip replied.

Holly didn’t seem too distressed by the experience, and added: ‘That’s meant to be really lucky, isn’t it?’

‘What you have to do if you find a money spider, is put it three times round your head and if it’s still on your hand it means the money will come to you too.’

Phil put the spider down delicately, with a bemused Holly added: ‘Well, you never know how the show is going to start, do you?!’

You certainly don’t!

It comes after This Morning viewers were left incensed as guests who are stockpiling for Christmas appeared on the show, including one who’d already bought 300 items for her children.

Holly and Phillip introduced Pat Smith and Rachel Mardesden, who revealed their sizeable collections of items purchased for the festive season.

But with 73 days still to go until Christmas Day, those watching at home weren’t thrilled to see their stockpiling efforts, particularly following the pandemic and while there is a shortage of HGV drivers in the country.

The Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
