Following his horrific Top Gear incident, Freddie Flintoff recently agreed to a seven-figure payout, and it appears that a portion of it might be utilised elsewhere.
The former cricketer, who was ‘fortunate to be alive’ following the horrific accident in December 2022, agreed to a £9 million settlement.
The settlement reflects two years’ worth of lost wages as the father-of-four recovers from injuries that his legal team described as ‘life-alteringly important.’
A spokesperson from BBCS said: ‘BBC Studios has reached an agreement with Freddie that we believe supports his continued rehabilitation, return to work and future plans.’
But according to MailOnline he might be splashing the cash money to help angry villagers in his home county of Lancashire, who have teamed up to block development proposals by a company he co-owns.
Logik Developments, of which Freddie is also a director, has applied for three parcels of land with intentions to develop them into industrial units, retail, and a hotel.
Flintoff recently talked publicly for the first time since the accident in a video shared on social media by England Cricket last month.
Referencing the incident, Flintoff said: ‘They’ll [England Cricket team} share the good times with you, the successes.
‘But as I found over the past few months, they’ll be there in the hardest times of your life, they will stand next to you.’
The former Games presenter is reportedly exploring a career return after the BBC denied that Top Gear, in which he co-starred with Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris, had been cancelled.
The insider told The Sun: ‘He just needs to get past the one year anniversary of the crash, then he can focus on the next chapter of his career.
‘He’s already in talks about what he wants to work on in 2024 and beyond.’
