The cold, dark evenings in lockdown just became a little brighter with the return to screens of I’m A Celebrity.

The 2020 series – which has swapped the Australian jungle for a Welsh castle in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic – kicked off on Sunday night and has already been action packed, from Radio 1’s Jordan North throwing up at the prospect of the first task, through to some grim, bug-filled goings on in the first Bushtucker Trial.

Business as usual then in spite of the new setting – but just how long is the series on for, and are we in for a shorter run this time around?

Here’s what you need to know…

How long is I’m A Celebrity 2020 on for?

The 2020 series of I’m A Celebrity will run for around three weeks.

Ant and Dec confirmed this on Sunday night’s series opener, with Dec saying at the start of the show: ‘Forget everything you know, and get ready for three weeks of chaos in the castle.’

That means we can expect the final to be in the first week of December – although the exact date has not been confirmed by ITV.

The show is set to be on on ITV every night for the next three weeks – although schedules can change at the last minute, so it’s always worth keeping an eye on the to get your I’m A Celeb fix.

Saturday shows will also have a different format to usual this year, featuring highlights of the week in camp along with previously unseen footage.

Is the series shorter than usual this year?

It’s been reported that the series could be shorter than usual this year – with some claims that the final will be on Friday December 4 instead of Sunday December 6 – which would be the three week mark of the series.

However this once again has not been confirmed.

If the series is shorter than usual, Dec’s remarks about the show lasting for three weeks on Sunday night’s instalment would suggest that it wouldn’t be by very much – making a Friday night final a possibility.

We’ll just have to keep watching to find out how long those celebrities who go all the way to the final hurdle get to stay in camp.

I’m A Celebrity continues on Monday night on ITV at 9pm.
