Have you ever fancied yourself as a contestant on The Chase, either to show off your quizzing skills or invite Shaun Wallace out on a date?

Ever thought you could do way better when it comes to taking on The Beast, The Governess and all the other Chasers?

Well if you do want to show off your general knowledge skills, tell off Bradley Walsh and appear to the nation on teatime TV, then the good news is that you can apply for the chance o be a contestant on The Chase, and show the world exactly what you can do.

But just how do you do it? Here’s what you need to know…

How can you apply to be on The Chase?

You’re in luck quiz fans, The Chase is currently casting for series 14, with auditions set to take place throughout the year.

The auditions may take the form of online group activities or in-person, depending on government restrictions at the time of your audition.

There is no closing date for applications and you can find the application form here.

What are the rules for applying for The Chase?

There is no deadline for applying, but contestants have to be aged over 18 and a legal resident of – and currently living in – the UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands.

You also have to be able to attend Elstree Studios for filming.

Filming will only proceed subject to government restrictions on travel and social distancing, meaning that the dates for studio recording are subject to change.

And – here’s the very important bit – you’re not allowed to have previously been employed by The Chase or worked for ITV in the past 10 years, or be a partner or relative of someone who has.

If you meet all those criteria and you fancy your chances, then go for it…

How long is the waiting list?

And here comes the snag.

There might be no deadline for applying but it seems the waiting list is quite lengthy.

The Chaser Shaun Wallace – aka Dark Destroyer – revealed back in 2019 that there is a three-year waiting list for contestants on the show.

So, be prepared not to get an invite in the post any time soon…
