I’m A Celebrity 2020: Ant and Dec tease Shane Richie and Jess Plummer trial is ‘funniest in 20 years’

I’m A Celebrity hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have teased that the latest trial with Shane Richie and Jess Plummer is the funniest one they’ve had on the series in 20 years.

Wednesday night’s episode will see Shane and Jess take on Sickening Stalls, which sees them having to down a gruesome blend of drinks.

It’s notoriously nasty – some might say even nastier than I’m A Celeb’s dreaded eating trial – and it sounds like viewers are in for a real treat, but it may leave them feeling a little queasy.

Taking to Instagram, Ant and Dec teased big things to come from the trial, with Ant telling the pair’s followers: ‘Wow, wow, we’ve just finished shooting.’

‘It’s a drinking trial with Jessica and Shane and one of the funniest we’ve ever had in 20 years,’ he revealed, before adding: ‘Good luck watching it… oh my god, amazing.’

Dec then made sure to get viewers riled up, as he jumped in: ‘Oh, good lord. Make sure you’ve had your tea.’

You’ve been warned, people.

The official Twitter account for I’m A Celebrity had shared a first look at the trial and it saw Jess clutching onto Shane as she attempted to down a glass of ‘avaca-toe smoothie’ which is basically blended chicken feet.

Shane’s heard joking that he ‘can’t feel his thumb’, as she grips on to him while retching and trying to keep down the vile drink, while Ant and Dec tell the actress she needs to finish what is in the glass.

It comes after Shane was seen smashing Tuesday night’s trial The Crown Jewels and successfully retrieving a full house of 12 stars.

Viewers watching at home, however, weren’t exactly left impressed by the EastEnders actor’s efforts, as they vented their frustration over the trial bein too easy.

Shane bossed his way through the different sections of the trial that saw him come up against scorpions, naked rats and snakes. It was only when he was faced with 200 spiders, that he slightly lost his nerve and freaked out a little.

He seemed to get away with being drowned in fish guts or covered in critters and that didn’t go unnoticed by fans who flocked to Twitter in outrage, as they compared it to AJ and Jess taking on an impossible trial – where they had to find stars (and each other) in the pitch black – the night before.

‘This trial seems so much easier then yesterdays, poor Jess and AJ getting slated for one of the hardesr challenges and all Shane has to do is crawl #ImACeleb [sic],’ one fan wrote.

Shane landing 12 stars, though, was a huge boost for camp, as tensions had started to simmer between the celebrities, after they were given specific tasks to carry out and their hunger began to get the better of them.

I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
