I’m A Celebrity star Beverley Callard admitted she was cringing with embarrassment after realising that a comment declaring her husband ‘megashag’ actually aired.

The Coronation Street star, who was eliminated on Monday night’s show with Victoria Derbyshire, proudly stated that Jon McEwan – who she’s been married to for the past 10 years, was a ‘megashag’ while in the castle.

But while Jon is more than happy to take on the new moniker, Beverley was horrified because she didn’t think it would make it to the screen.

Speaking on Lorraine, Beverley said: ‘I can’t believe they aired that! Because I just thought “well they’re quite bad words, so they’ll just edit that”.

‘When Ant and Dec played the clips for last night, I wanted to die.’

Lorraine then reassured her, and said: ‘Like he said, it could’ve been a lot worse!’

After being eliminated last night alongside Victoria, Beverley called the show ‘absolutely mind-blowingly wonderful’.

‘We’re sad to go but also happy to go,’ she told Ant and Dec. ‘I truly feel as though I’ve got no survival skills whatsoever, you just do it though, don’t you?

‘And you think, ok I’m covered in bugs but if I lift my head for one second, everyone loses a meal. Your mind goes into a different place.’

However, she’s hit back at claims the show isn’t as difficult as the celebs have made it out to be, and she said: ‘When you watch it from home, we know ourselves, you think, “oh, it can’t be that bad”.

‘Listen, it was. They read the rules to you beforehand, but you have no idea how it’s going to feel, and what’s in store, and it was horrendous.’

Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
