Last week, there was a bit of tension between the professional dancer and the former soap star over the camp chores.
The pair had previously had a disagreement over the washing up, but then things simmered between them once again when new camp leader Giovanna Fletcher announced AJ and Jessica Plummer had replaced Shane with the cleaning.
Making light of the switch, Shane jokingly threw his tins on the floor after finishing his meal – and well, the look AJ gave him said it all.
In his latest podcast, AJ’s brother Curtis was joined by their parents Debi and Adrian, where they discussed all the camp drama.
‘I’ve noticed with Shane and AJ, is there something going on there?’ Curtis asked.
‘I don’t know what’s happened here, I’ve heard stories but I think people have overblown it up.’
‘You will understand this,’ Debi replied. ‘Shane is a real character and I would say Shane maybe hasn’t had to be in a position where he’s had to clean up after himself or wash his dishes.’
‘So has Shane been lazy then?’ Curtis asked.
‘It’s just when you go into chill out mode and Shane’s in his chill out mode,’ Debi continued.
‘Not quite doing the jobs he should be doing because they had been chosen by the camp ruler to do certain jobs, but one day AJ chose to wash the pots to help because I think Shane was doing a trial.’
‘Shane had cleaned the pots and it was fine, he did a normal cleaning job of the pots. Then AJ did the pots, AJ scrubbed the pots to an inch of their lives, until they were so clean and shiny,’ she added.
‘If you’re going to do a job do it properly,’ Curtis weighed in.
AJ’s dad then went on to explain that this all came to a head after the pair had a disagreement when Shane had left the pots in the washing up.
Jumping in, Curtis interrupted: ‘So I’m going to just say it then, Shane has been lazy basically.
‘He ain’t pulling his weight around and ain’t doing his chores.’
Stepping in to defend him Deb said: ‘Shane is Shane and he’s fine.’
‘He’s got a big personality, he’s lovely and everything, but Shane you’ve got to do your jobs, you can’t be in that place not doing them,’ Curtis added.
‘It doesn’t matter if you’re older or younger, you’ve got to get your jobs done.’
AJ’s mum then went on to address the ‘side look’ AJ gave Shane when he threw his tin on the floor and said ‘how do you like them apples?’
‘But we all know AJ is total restraint, he doesn’t do confrontation, he would never argue and never insult someone but the look said it all and it was just hysterically funny.’
